Two Choices

As we all grow and become the people that we are to become, there are choices that we must make throughout our lives.  Sometimes we may feel that we have multiple choices but in actuality, we only have two.  To do and pursue or not to do and ignore.  Either we begin following whatever path that we like or we choose to put it off again and again.  Your choices are between the two.

I would like to begin this post by saying that I don’t mean to come off as too direct without explaining my reasoning.  We as people do feel like we have multiple choices when it comes to the things that we do every day.  Even if you are alone or have a bustling family, there are plenty of tasks on your to do list for the day, week, or even month.

But when you break it down, how many choices do we have within each of those tasks?  Let’s take this apart real quickly.  When we have a task that is in front of us, we are in the state of doing or not doing.  A maybe later falls under the area of not doing and if you do happen to get to it later, then it becomes doing.

For an example, let’s say that when you wake up for the day, you have to get ready so that is a couple of tasks.  You may have to use the bathroom, wash up, get your clothes on, get ready for the day, go to school, work, a business… multiple choices right?  Well yeah if you look at it from a categorical view.

But by breaking this down, you look at each task:  do I use the restroom or not?  Do I wash up or not? Do I put clothes on or not?  Do I get ready and go anywhere or not?  Either you do or don’t but whatever your choice is, it will fall under one of the areas.

Also by breaking this topic down, you may begin to see the tasks in your life a little differently going forward.  Do I continue to go to this job that I don’t like?  Do I continue in this unhealthy relationship with this friend?  Do I pursue this business idea that could really take off for me?  Do I continue to be stagnate of an opportunity that will propel me to a position of my choice within my career?

Not all your tasks may seem to be so cut and dry because there will be times where a decision cannot be made immediately.  As simple reaction to a situation that has affected you may take time to decide on rather than simply giving an answer.  But even with that, it still falls under doing and not doing.

By looking at a task, goal, or mission in a way that says that I am going to either do it or not, can practically propel you into pursuing it rather than putting it off.  Incorporating this into your life for growth, remember, even just by attempting to move in the direction of doing, you’ve made the decision to go after that task, goal, or mission.  An inch forward into the direction of your choice that will give your life meaning, purpose, and happiness, is better than staying put and deciding to do it later.

With that being said, I do hope you appreciate our site, learn a great deal, and focus on building yourself for the person that you are to become.  Thank you in advance and for your time!
