Taking Risks

Every so often in our lives, we come across a time where we regret not taking an opportunity. Whether we didn’t jump for the chance or just completely ignored it, it’s human nature for us to feel that way. Especially if the decision that we did make did not turn out to be what it seemed. But what makes us all unique is the ability to act and reflect. Taking risks allows us to grow mentally, not live within conformity, and choose the life that we individually seek.

In order to live a life of abundance and full of rewards, we may have to take risks to get there.  At times, we may want to play it safe, not jeopardize our current situations, and stay within our conformity.  All at the same time dreading our current condition.  By taking risks, you open up your life to new possibilities and opportunities.  Situations that may never reveal themselves to you if you don’t take a chance.

Taking risks can also lead you to more knowledge within an area that may truly be your passion. For me, one of my passions was within real estate. I took a risk on myself and the left the conformity of my job of twelve years to become a full time real estate agent. It did not turn out the way I envisioned it but I am so happy I took the risk because it allowed me to grow and learn about myself and so many ways. I go into a little more detail on my podcast Talking With Chivalry Why I Quit My Job Of 12 Years.

Also by taking a chance on a risk, we develop Experiences and Lessons from the opportunity to guide ourselves as well as others in the future.  Life is about learning and teaching and by you taking on opportunities, building upon them, and expanding your knowledge, you will continue to grow into the person that you are to become.

This post isn’t meant to bash or make anyone feel ashamed of not taking risks.  Some people will shy away from something that may seem a little extreme than their familiarity and that is understandable.  I have been there as well.  I call this being comfortable with being uncomfortable.  It is a dream blocker and once your realize this for yourself, you may thank yourself later as well.

Now one point I would like to make and leave you with is this…  Is it really taking a risk if you’ve prepared for it?  If you know of an opportunity that could possibly change your life, you’ve researched it, read reviews on it, and replayed some scenarios in your head, would you still consider it a risk to try it out or to ignore it?

With that being said, I do hope you appreciate our site, learn a great deal, and focus on building yourself for the person that you are to become.  Thank you in advance and for your time!

  1. I took a stupid risk once, and that’s to quit my cushy job to write a novel. Things did turn out okay in the end, even though career wise I did come to a slight pause. What I’ve learned is that any action is always better than no action. Anyway, thanks for this post!

    • There you go Stuart!!! I wouldn’t call your risk stupid by the way. You took a chance on something you believed in and that is always a win in my book. Thank you!
