Capitalize On Yourself

Most people have heard about the phrase of betting on yourself but if you haven’t, I would like to give my own insight to the phrase.  It simply means to practically capitalize on yourself.  To find a way to discover your true talent and go all in on yourself.  To look within yourself as an opportunity rather than others.  Is it a gamble when you know what you are capable of?

To capitalize on something means to cease an opportunity for a gain.  To take advantage of a chance in hopes of a path to the developments that you are seeking for yourself.  By accepting the idea that you are going to look within yourself for the chance to position your life in the places that you envision, you are agreeing to take that chance.  The chance that will only fail if you give up on it.

In order to capitalize on yourself, you will need to discover your true gift.  There are many things that we all are good at but there is truly something that you have that separates you from the rest.  What is it?  What is it that I can do with relative ease that others may struggle with?  What is it that if someone ran into a problem, thought of me without being in my presence, and their solution would be to reach out to myself?  While this may feel like you’ve discovered your gift, his may just be something that you are good at.

To give an example for better clarity, I’ve always been good with installing or putting something together.  Which if you have heard in my previous blogs and podcasts that I grew up playing with Legos and coding databases, so that may be self-explanatory.  But if a family member bought something that needed to put together, came with instructions, and just simply looked confusing, I would possibly be one of the people they may have thought of calling.  But to be honest, some of those diagram instructions look to have been drawn by a 3 year old but I understand.

But is that my gift or something that I am simply good at?  To look further, I would say it is one of my many talents that I am aware of but not my gift.  They are keys to help me discover my gift and when observing this, it may help me unlock what I am looking for.  My gift may not be something that people may call upon me to provide.  My gift may not be something that is obvious to the people around me.  My gift may be something that with enough soul searching, I would find it wrapped up and waiting for me to discover.

The gift is going to be something that when odds are stacked against you, you will come out as the victor regardless.  The gift is going to be something that you provide to the world no matter if they ask for it or not.  The gift is going to propel you into your own lane and make you feel all alone.  Because when you are running your own race, everyone will look as if they are not moving at all.

So when you do find your gift, go all in!  Give it all your free time, all your extra energy, and all your spare room in your mind.  In order for this seed of a gift to be able to function for you, it needs to be watered and nurtured daily.  We can do one of two things with our gift… we can build it up with a positive spirit or destroy it with negative energy.  You have to make the choice.  With that being said, I do hope you appreciate our site, learn a great deal, and focus on building yourself for the person that you are to become.  Thank you in advance and for your time!
