The Best Investment

I have not considered myself an investor for very long.  If you ask me, I would say that I started about 2017.  But after hours of searching for the best, most passive, least amount of effort investment that I could find, I just could not simply find it.  It was only until recently that I realized that it was right in front of me the whole time.  I knew it all along and didn’t notice it at all.  It is TIME… time is the best investment that you can invest in.

Time in Yourself

As I mentioned before on previous blogs and podcasts, that I use to spend hours learning about new things.  Acquiring degrees, certifications, licenses… Going to seminars, webinars, and zoom courses… Researching ideas that interest me at the moment.  I have no problem investing my time into myself to become the best person that I can possibly be.  Whether it be in the field that I am currently in or another that I plan to pursue in the near future, I will put in the time to get myself in a position to claim the goal as accomplished.

The time that you can put in yourself will be so valuable that you can never have enough money to buy it back.  As one of the most precious assets, once it is gone, it can never be reclaimed.  There are times when I just want to play my video games all day.  Benge watch movies and shows on Netflix.  But I know by the end of the day, that time could have been better utilized in ways to create content, build my business, and recharge my mind.

Time in your Investments

As I began to investment in the stock market, crowdfunding, and real estate, I soon realized that time had its hand here as well.  I learned that the name of this game is to buy and hold, collect payments, and capitalize on the appreciation.  Over time, with reinvesting or simply adding more capital into the investment, it begins to build and become a greater version of itself as periods pass.

I always like the analogy of the small snowball at the top of a hill.  Roll it down a snowy hill and watch that ball grow over time.  By rolling it down a hill full of snow, (reinvesting, adding capital, and appreciation) it will grow over time on its way down.  By rolling it down a hill with no snow, (not reinvesting or adding capital) it may only shrink in value with the hope of snow falling to help (appreciation).

Time in your Business

It takes time to build a business and there isn’t a how to guide for every obstacle that comes your way.  Sure there are books and courses that can better equip you but the time that you invest in your business of growing, learning, achieving, and delegating will all come from the actual work itself.  There are so many moving parts to operating a business, that the learning curve can seem very daunting from the start.

Investing your time into building your business also comes with the development of your brand.  If your ultimate goal is build your own business from the ground up and not purchase a franchise, then it will take time to build a trust with your consumers.  Building a brand that they can learn to recognize, have confidence in, and purchase from with minimal worry takes time.

In my podcast Talking With Chivalry, I go into great detail of my experience of starting my first business and as you will find out, those experiences take time to research, understand, and push through to achieve.  Here is the link to the session: Lessons From My First Business.

Time in your Family

One of the most important ways to invest your time is with your family.  I soon learned this after having my beautiful children.  With time moving so fast now, it is like if you blink, you’ve just missed 6 months out of their lives.  Also with most people trying to invest, create businesses, as well as continue to work their jobs, making time for your family may seem a little harder as you get closer to your goals.

We always have to keep in mind that a job, a business, an investment can all be created again.  We can create these things multiple times over.  But a family that you care for and build with your husband or wife, can only be created once.  Once your children become adults, the time that could have been used for bonding, teaching, and learning cannot be reclaimed.  Utilize it wisely when you can.

To top it off this post, I would like to add that you consider investing some of your time into meditation for yourself.  For me, it is when I can go to my office, turn on my Himalayan salt lamps, and just think quietly to myself as I recharge my mind.  That, my friends, cannot be replaced by anything else for me.

With that being said, I do hope you appreciate our site, learn a great deal, and focus on building yourself for the person that you are to become.  Thank you in advance and for your time!
