True Desire
Many times in our lives, we will come across a situation that we really want to seek for ourselves. We also may come across times where we would like to have something. Then we will come across times where if we get it, we get it. This is usually the position for most people but it is in that first situation that fuels this post. What do you really want for yourself? Are you willing to do what it takes to obtain it? Are you willing to make sacrifices in order to get to the top of your mountain? In this post, I will break down my opinion on what true desire is.
What is that goal, dream, or object that you must obtain at all costs? Most people may not know this and that is okay. Sometimes that true desire may show itself when you are in a situation that you absolutely hate. When you’ve had enough of something, that energy can be utilized as fuel to spring you into the direction that you desire.
Things like, “I am not going to continue down this path.” “There is something better for me, I know it.” “Why I do I continue to do this?” When you begin to ask yourself these type of questions, desire will appear. You will desire to get yourself out of you current situation into something that you truly believe will be better for you.
For me, one of my desires was to become well educated in the investment advisory field and provide my clients with the absolute best advice that I could give. So I began my financial services career within a call center setting. You have to start somewhere, right? I absolutely dreaded it and had to develop new ways to deal with the stress that I did not know existed.
I mean don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed helping our customers and providing assistance the best way that I could. But it was just the being tied to the chair for 7 and half hours, the metrics, the constant complaining about a system that usually could have been user errors for the most part. The constant phone ringing would be overwhelming at times but I knew this is what it may take in the beginning so bring it on.
Now don’t get me wrong, when I needed to recharge, I took my time to build myself mentally to get back in the game. Always know that you can step away to recharge yourself if you need to. But when I reflect back on that experience, I realize that I needed that. I needed that feeling of dread in the call center position. It fueled my will to succeed, it fueled my motivation to pass my exams, and it fueled my desire to get to that level that I sought for myself. I truly wanted to become a part of the investment community, but I desired to get out of the call center even more.
I believe if I were in a comfortable setting, it would not have worked out for me the same. I would have probably thought about taking the exams, started studying, stopped studying and started the whole process again. Comfort can be one of the quickest ways to extinguish your desire fire faster than it starts. But as you can see from my experience, an uncomfortable setting propelled me to my desire.
Would you like to have your dream or will you take your dream by any means? This is a question that you should ask yourself from time to time. Sort of like a temperature check when you need it. True desire is a feeling that you must accomplish any goal that you set for yourself regardless of the sacrifices you may have to make. It will be done and it will be accomplished.
With that being said, I do hope you appreciate our site, learn a great deal, and focus on building yourself for the person that you are to become. Thank you in advance and for your time!
